Ashtanga Yoga

Ashtanga Yoga is a method of practice that consists of a dynamic sequence of physical postures linked together by the breath. The focus on synchronizing breath and movement together creates an internal heat and a purifying sweat that works to both detoxify the body and cleanse the mind. The set sequence of postures allows for a progressive unfolding as each posture is worked with one by one and the continued repetition offers a unique lens to view ourselves honestly. When practiced with regularity and consistency, Ashtanga Yoga can help us reach greater levels of self-understanding and growth.  Because of the individualized  approach,  we are able to thoughtfully explore each person’s needs in an informed way.  As the practice deepens we gain access to a softer inquiry of the mind and the self limiting beliefs that so often arise.

Mysore Style

The traditional way of practicing Ashtanga Yoga is in the Mysore setting in which each student moves through their own personal practice while practicing in a group setting. Each student works within the set sequence of postures in their own way, at their own pace, while receiving individual guidance by a qualified teacher. This allows for a very personalized approach and helps to grow a deep and trusting relationship between teacher and student. As this trust deepens so does the practice.

This kind of daily commitment allows for a deep exploration of the physical postures and your own movement patterns as well as mental and emotional habits

Over time unconscious habit patterns and self limiting beliefs begin to unravel and we have an easier time catching a glimpse of what is possible when we move Beyond.

Yoga connects us to the deepest parts of ourselves and consistent practice is the medicine necessary for that healing.

This practice is for all levels; experienced practitioners, those new to Ashtanga Yoga, and those brand new to yoga.
